It is supposedly the most wonderful time of the year, but we don’t all feel this way. With the holiday season fast approaching, many people find themselves feeling alone, isolated, or longing for things that are gone and passed. Not to mention, with the shortened days and colder weather, many struggle with seasonal depression which can increase feelings of sadness, loneliness, and depression.
If you are one of these people, you are not alone.
“It’s coming on Christmas. They’re cutting down trees. They’re putting up reindeer and singing songs of joy and peace. Oh I wish I had a river I could skate away on.” — Joni Mitchell
If the holidays are feeling a little harder to enjoy this year, reach out to someone.
Acknowledge your feelings rather than trying to push them away.
Try not to get caught comparing yourself or your circumstances to others.
Consider making a new holiday tradition for you.
